Wi-Fi Expansion at the Sherbrooke Public Library

For Immediate Release: Wi-Fi expansion at the Sherbrooke Public Library

Eastern Counties Regional Library (ECRL) is pleased to announce the completion of a project to expand the range of the free Wi-Fi offered by the Sherbrooke Public Library. The Province of Nova Scotia made this service enhancement possible with financial assistance. ECRL received a Library Development Fund grant from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH) to cover the costs of installing technology to boost the library’s service to create a Wi-Fi zone in Sherbrooke’s downtown area around Main Street.

Creating a free Wi-Fi zone in Sherbrooke is a project that developed from the ongoing discussions between ECRL and the MODSM about strengthening their relationship to improve service for the community.

ECRL Board Chair Clair Rankin said, "Adding such a Wi-Fi service to the other ECRL offerings at the Sherbrooke Public Library enhances the presence of the library in the community, and ECRL is thankful to the Province of Nova Scotia for helping with the installation."

Municipality of St Mary's Warden Greg Wier said, "It's exciting for us to support the library and see it deliver new and innovative services. Libraries have always been about sharing information. This modern information service will provide important daily benefits to the community and all persons in the Sherbrooke Downtown. It's an exciting development!
