ECRL does not own Book Club Kits. However, ECRL library users can borrow book club kits via the Same Page catalogue.
What you need to know:
- Book Club Kits come as a pre-packaged bag/container complete with multiple (typically between 8-10 copies) of a book.
- One member of the book club must request and check out the entire kit and is financially responsible for the contents of the kit. The replacement cost for missing materials is decided upon by the library region that owns the kit.
- The kit must be borrowed and returned as a complete kit (i.e. kits can't be left at the library for staff to manage checkouts or returns from individual book club members due to the financial implications for the borrower). Kits typically contain a sign-out sheet for the borrowing library user to keep track of the copies loaned to other book club members.
- ECRL can't guarantee when a requested kit will arrive and become available to borrow as there are many factors that are involved (e.g., shipping times, whether or not it's currently checked out or requested by others, etc).
- Book club kits are available as 6 week loans with no renewals.
- All other general library borrowing rules and procedures apply.
